Federal Tyres Series X3 Challenge team - 2017

brad smith

It was fortunate the Mount Cotton Hill Climb track was spared any storm damage allowing the 2017 CAMS Challenge event to proceed.

Two Hyundai teams were represented, Federal Tyres Series X3 Challenge team and the QRDA Hyundai team. Series X3 QLD team Drivers Cam Bartholomew, Richard Chaseling and Brock Giblin took a couple of runs to get familiar with the track while regulars Brad Smith and Gary Goulding set to putting down some good times on the board. QRDA’s current QLD Hill climb Circuit Excel class champion Mark Pryor set a time of 52:30 straight off the trailer and a fastest time of day a 51:78 with Chris Donnelly also showing he meant business finishing the day with a best time of 52:00. Current (QSC Chair) David Paterson was the third driver for the QRDA team driving the 43 car, the Donnelly bumble bee, we all must thank him for putting his hand up for the commentary duties on Sunday and for his humble words promoting our class over the course of the day.

The Federal Tyres Series X3 Challenge team fort hard all day running second outright till the last round, finishing the day in third place outright. Congratulations to the Series X3 QLD team members who consistently bettered their times as they all came to grips with the track layout, and its challenging demands on the driver. Times below show how competitive the day finished.
Cam Bartholomew 52:13 Brad Smith 52:61 Brock Giblin 52:70 Richard Chaseling 52:80 Gary Goulding 52:96

The intention of Series X3 QLD to enter this event was to promote the class. It was great to see all the Hyundai drivers talking amongst themselves sharing ideas on how to get the most out of their runs and they should all be proud of the performance and driving skills they displayed on Sunday. I am sure a lot of people watching walked away very impressed and will spread the word praising the Circuit Excel Class.

MTAQ Racing Team Townsville Supersprint Wrap

Townsville2.0 2020DarinMandy 3219The MTAQ Racing Team has returned from it’s Northern adventure to the Townsville Supercars event, and the EFS Excel Challenge. It has been a mammoth few weeks for the team, which has covered over 4000 kilometres and put in some big days and late nights to get to events on back to back weekends – a task we haven’t taken on before. The heat was most certainly on the streets up in Townsville, and all in all it was a cracking event and well worth the effort to attend.
